I am known for my guitar work, but am in actuality a multi instrumentalist playing (as well as guitar) keys, drums, bass, brass, found objects and percussion.I have worked within the music industry for many decades and have played in Australia and the United Kingdom sharing the stage with many international players including Steve Vai,David Lee Roth, and many more.I am also a record producer with around 100 releases for many artists including my own solo efforts & bands from the USA,Holland,New Zealand,Italy,Africa,UK,Australia to name but a few.I enjoy most musical genres and constantly produce differing styles.I encourage you to listen to some of my work as there is something for everyone in the tracks I'm constantly putting up.Thanks for listening :)
This is a track I discovered on a mini disc and released as a CD album ("Shout") in 2004. Lots of shredding in this. It was another exercise in hammer-ons and two handed reverse quadruplets.Just an exercise really, hence the title. But given other tracks like this have been appreciated,I thought I'd put it up for those who enjoy guitar stuff :)
This is a track for those of you that like guitar instrumentals.Chill out, layback, close your eyes and let the music take you away to a far away place. Let me know what you think. This was featured on my CD Album "Love Is Cruel", "When Angels Cry" is on the same album and has proven to be popular, so I thought I'd put this one up.
One of my favourite songs with one of my favourite vocalists and friend Danny Zambelis.I wrote this after thinking how we all have our own "Private Sideshow" or life which is different for all of us,the ups, downs, and the journey we all have to "walk". May you all be blessed in this troubled world, and please leave some thoughts on the song, its for you all! Peace :-)
I found real love, this is how it feels(when angels cry)
I wrote this song when I was very down, I wrote my own instructions on how to pull oneself out of the hole and gain from the experience to make oneself better and coping with tests, and they get harder as we get older.Peace :-)
Guitar Instrumental from the 2004 CD album "Some Of" by John Castellain
Instrumental guitar in power trio and recorded as played(no overdubs). This was included in the 2016 vinyl lathe cut album "TimeShift"(limited edition), this can be made available, just message me:)
I bought an eight string guitar a while back, this is a track where I play bass guitar and guitar parts at once.I used my thumb curled round the neck, which is somewhat tricky on a wide 8 string neck! The piece was done virtually in one take as I prefer recording 'as played' these days as opposed to endless overdubs and editing! The guitar part 'swings' in time in relation to the drums, and is deliberately not in perfect time.
Inspired by Sly & The Family Stone, this track is a mix of Funk,Jazz,World,Blues and Soul.
Grungy guitar instrumental! This is from "Timeshift" the lathe cut limited edition album by John Castellain & Nat DePalma. It is available, just msg me :)
