Born in 1958 in Germany I was one of the kids, which were unprotectedly exposed to rock and progressive rock music running in the local mainstream radio. And so it happened to me what happened to many of my generation: we became addicts! Addicted to rock … no doctor could heal that, no one even tried. So I had to live with my addictions and closed my room, isolated myself and heard 100 times the guitar solo of Ritchie Blackmore on Child in time, followed by 500 times "Speed King". Later that did not anymore satisfy me and I needed harder stuff. So I started to consume Emerson Lake and Palmer, Yes, Black Sabbath, Ted Nugent, Birth Control, Iron Maiden, Van Halen and many more. As said, there had been no cure … and I did not spend to much effort to get healed I have to admit … In principle nothing has changed as per today and luckily modern research has in the meanwhile found out that permanent consuming rock music is not as bad as initially thought, so beside ears no organs are damaged. Also it has been proven that Wacken festivals can be survived with a very high probability, so that it did not become necessary to get rock prohibited. Yes friends and this is why I am still playing guitar though being over 60 years now … If someone would have told me that 40 years ago, I would have thought that this person is totally mad. So never say never and warn your children. In case they permanently listen to rock music, it can happen that they want to play guitar or bass or drums or keyboards and other crzy things (maybe they are already singing …). So don´t leave them alone with that and buy them what they want. Give them my example: they will anyway get what they want :-)
I have found another asset from Special Cecilia which I found very inspiring and very beautiful. Cecilia´s original can be found here: https://soundcloud.com/specialvocals/aca-cecilia-destins-lies I hope you will enjoy our collaborating again!
This is a remake of the song "Triumphant" from Jan Schonander, which he released half a year ago on his site at: https://soundcloud.com/thegats/triumphant We both thought, that a small portion of guitar and bass would not harm and I thank Jan to trust me to determine the guitar and bass dose finally :-) If you like this one, I am sure you will also like a further remake we had created a while ago, which had a similar receipt: https://soundcloud.com/nobsmeyer/break-out-of-this-cage-thegats-nobs Please use the opportunity to check out Jans site @thegats Lyrics: TRIUMPHANT We can be triumphant You can be triumphant We can beat the odds We can breathe through it I can be triumphant I can see the end I can see all the people I can feel the love Feel the love From start to end From way down under Through all the seasons From doom and gloom to doom and gloom Such a long summer Oh it’s been such a bummer Over the oceans I feel the love We can be triumphant You can be triumphant We can beat the odds We can breathe through it It’s so beautiful Brothers and sisters You’re so beautiful We walk together From east to west Far from our best From the great wall To the depths of the canyon Wave after wave An endless cycle We walk together 6 ft apart, 6 ft apart I couldn’t feel number And it’s still such a bummer Deep in your eyes I feel the love We can be triumphant You can be triumphant We can beat the odds We can breathe through it I can be triumphant I can see the end I can see all the people I can feel the love
This is a further open collaboration with Special Cecilia, based on her a Capella https://soundcloud.com/specialvocals/waiting-for-your-sunshine-standing-in-the-moonlight I hope you all will enjoy it!
Please enjoy with me the Reservoir Dogs. We are a Soundcloud Band and have already released some tracks, which you can find here: https://soundcloud.com/kcm069/sets/the-reservoir-dogs We have a very unique sound and it is a lot of fun to work on music in a band, as suddenly everything goes 4 times as fast, as 4 brains are working and 4 styles are coming together. This song was created, as Tot. had sent me a drum synth track which was already epic and dark, when nothing had been added. So I played a bass line and sent this to Ken and Andrea who immediately came back with their parts, which I then mixed and mastered. I hope you will like it very much guys. If you dance with the devil then you need to consider that the hell is loose. If a church organ can keep him calm is not guaranteed neither that you can calm him down with a smooth ending ... so up to you to decide, if you dare that dance or not ... For those who want to assess the risk better, please get more insight in the nature of the devil here: https://soundcloud.com/kcm069/long-time-gone?in=kcm069/sets/the-reservoir-dogs
I „wrote“ this song i (when I say I wrote I mean I played and recorded it :-)
This is the second Part, where more the bass is in the foreground than the guitar. I am playing a Fender Jazzbass Deluxe with active pickups, which gives it a nice crunchy sound.
This track is inspired by an old piece from 1982, which we played in my third Band. At that time we were enthusiastic and wanted to make music as a living. But we all ended up somewhere else, only our singer made it, as he joined Pink Cream 69 and later Helloween, where they are playing the big festivals till today :-) I myself had stopped playing at all, focused on my profession and touched only the acoustic guitar from time to time. My Marshall JCM 800 and my Fender were becoming more and more living room Accessoires and were nicely looking hanging untouched at the wall. In 2015 my son woke up music in me again, when he came to me playing a song he had created with GarageBand on an iPad. Then the guitar flame started to burn again and finally the result you can listen here. I hope you enjoy it.
Though I´m normally not much into hiphop, I couldn't resist dear Ian to record music to these phantastic vocals, that you have offered us as an open collaboration. https://soundcloud.com/ipg1/taking-it-back-vocals-95-bpm I love the result, but I fear it hasn´t become hiphop. No matter what I do, It always becomes Rock. This has something to do with the addictions from my teenage years (please read my bio, then you know what happened to me, when I was a child). So anyway, it´s all about music and about going beyond genres and about having fun, which I hope every listener will have. This track is completely inspired by the lyrics of Special Cecilia's song "Eyes Of An Artist". It is available on SoundCloud as an open collaboration. in the beginning I had the guitar intro and was thinking about what to do with it. Cecilia’s vocal track was by coincidence totally matching the chords, the harmonies, everything of the first minute guitar track. As I was blown away that it fitted so well and as I loved the voice and the overall ambient sound the journey of invention started what to nit around the remaining 5 minutes. I had made earlier the experience with Cecilia’s vocals, that this fits perfectly to rock, I went in this direction and I find finally it paid out and I have to say again: Cecilia really rocks! Please join us in this metal psychedelic journey and relax why we are cleaning your mood and your ears while you enjoy the Phantastic sound of our track 😀🎸❤️🎶🍾 Credits: @specialececilia - vocals and lyrics @nobsmeyer - guitar, bass, keyboards, drum programming, mix and mastering
Music & Lyrics, Vocal, Synth, Drums: Jan Schonander @thegats Guitars, Bass, Drums: Norbert Meyer @nobsmeyer This is a track from my soundcloud friend Jan Schonander, which he wrote, performed and released here on soundcloud already some weeks ago. As he recently asked me, if I could do a N.o.b.S. Version of it, I did not hesitate as I really do like the song. If you listen to the original, there is a guitar already creating a great atmosphere. I wanted to amplify this momentum with my version especially in the second part with heavy rock riffs. I hope you all will enjoy this and bang your heads to it. It is something for rock obsessed individuals. Please visit Jan on his site and support him, you will like the music you will find there: Lyrics: BREAK OUT OF THIS CAGE Break out of this cage Why can’t I hold on to the bars Is it all in my mind The weight on my shoulders Better than that More than that You deserve so much more So much better than that Round and round and round….. Up and down Round and round Off the ground I don’t want to hear a sound Uh uh uh uh uh uh uh…. Break out of this cage Break out of this cage Break out of this cage Why can’t I hold on to the bars Is it all in my mind The weight on my shoulders Uh uh uh uh uh uh uh….. Round and round and round….. My future Your future Our future It’s all in the past It’s all in the past Get off of this circular path Break out of this cage Break out of this cage Break out of this cage Why can’t I hold on to the bars
I have reworked this old classic from Cecilia and myself and as always when you rework something it is getting very different from the original. If you feel at the end that you hear George Zamfir - it´s not him, it´s all guitar :-) I hope you like the track and enjoy this new fresh version. @spacialcecilia Vocals and Lyrics myself: guitar, bass, drum programming, keyboards and mix and mastering
An older track I did. together with Special Cecilia with reworked guitars to make it easier to jump to it 😀🎸🤘 Vocals: @specialececilia Composition: @specialececilia @nobsmeyer Guitar, Bass, Keyboards & Production: Norbert Meyer I hope you will enjoy this reissue!
I am happy to present you a further collaboration with Ken Minty (@kcm069). Ken has written the lyrics and vocals to this track. Ken has also played the intro on the acoustic and the stunning slide solos on his lap steel guitar for the guitar battle at the end of the song. For me I perceived it as if Ken had sold his soul to the devil at the crossroads, but ...hm... I am still not sure if he really did ... dancing to the rhythm of this rainbow prison dreaming on a winter's day welcome to the hotel no one can name such a lovely place to stay out on bail a step away from jail longing for some other world if I could see all the people on the beach I'd wish they were all dreaming girls from forests cool to deserts hot from the mountains in the east to the sea out of my prison, is such a lovely place of girls, hotels and dreams California the prison around me is not made of concrete timber, rocks or steel the hotel can't be found in a guide book it's location no map can reveal the panther's child still stalks the streets looking for a better scene and the beach is a rainbow fantasy In case you like this, you can as well have a listen to our other collaborations: https://soundcloud.com/kcm069/long-time-gone https://soundcloud.com/kcm069/heart-of-snow-w-tot-foresto-n-meyer https://soundcloud.com/user-959329289/7october For vintage Marshall sound lovers only: I have used here the Kerry King Marshall signature plugin recently sold by Softube, which is really a very similar sound I had, when I was still playing my JCM 800 .
The Title of the song can be understood in 2 ways: 1. a reflection of the current Corona crisis we are in 2. the feeling I still have since I play this 8 string beast, that I bought myself in January 2020. Always used to be at home on 6 strings, this one is really a challenge, which I am getting only slowly under control. Never in my life I had to search on a guitar for the deep e-string :-)
This is a collaboration with my soundcloud friends Foresto and Ken Minty, where I had the pleasure to contribute with bass and with providing the final mix. I have made foresto´s guitars fly by massive use of the panner hwich gives this track something very airy and light. I hope you all enjoy it very much. IF ONLY If only you could see through my eyes If only I could find just one more way If only we could go back in time If the two of us didn’t feel so lonely If only could be sublime And I will never forget I remember your tender embrace I miss gazing into your eyes I miss hearing your laughter Seeing your smile Feeling your love And yet There’s so much more Why I walked out that door I can’t ever forget Lying on my back On a cold floor If only you’d never got mad If only you hadn’t made me sad I sing every night and day I sing if only If only If we could get back to just having fun If everything could be undone If we could live on regret If the two of us, had never met If no-one had to run If only you’d never got mad If only you hadn’t made me sad I sing every night and day I sing if only If only I pray from Monday to Sunday I pray for both of our souls I sing every night and day I sing if only If only If Only | Amanda Sanderson, NOBS, TheGat(s) by TheGat(s) is licensed under a Creative Commons License.
Here is the result of a collaboration with my SC friend Gina Wood @gina-wood-837506330 Initially the collaboration was aiming to become an improvisation about Emerson Lake and Palmer, which we both like very much. See what it has become :-) We are sure you all will enjoy the journey :-)
I have never recorded with acoustic guitar, so this is my first try. I hope you like this small instrumental.
Dear Listeners I hope you will enjoy this work. No guitars were used. You will hear only Fender Jazz Bass as lead instrument beside the synthesizers used to paint it even more colourful. If you should make it beyond the solo in the middle of this track your efforts to stay online during the bass solo will be recognized with an ambient summer feeling at the end. The birds I have recorded with my iPhone on my balcony. And now Enjoy ;-)
Here is my version of Neli CoKo's love song. I personally love as well the other works of Neli very much and recommend to join her site @neli-co-ko. I am quite sure, you will like it too, as she is an exceptional artist. You will find there versions from other great SoundCloud artists of this song, which are definitely worth to listen to too! So have some entertainment with my version, which was from its instrumentation reduced to guitar bass and drums only and later extended with keyboards, which I find gives this song a much more dramatic note. If we only could ... When I was young in the 70ies, I was thinking that in the year 2000 we would fly with flying saucers to planets far awy, we would know everything and mankind would be much smarter. I would have never thought that we would end up in wars about religions like in the middleages. This kind of utopia I would not have wanted to believe at that time. The church organ in the middle is for the funeral of hate. Guitar used: Charvel Jackson Model 4 Bass used: Fender Jazz Bass Have fun listening
This Track was a long time unfinished due to missing inspiration, until I found the missing final piece on the site of the phantastic Nathalie B20: https://soundcloud.com/nathalie-b20 Nathalies vocals and text were fitting perfectly to the atmosphere in the second part and that shows that sometimes you just need to wait for the right moment and for coincidence to get important things done :-) So please enjoy the journey, it´s again a long one (10 min), which I hope you will spend with joy and fun. Vocals: Nathalie B20 Bass, guitar, keyboards: Norbert Meyer Production, Mix and Mastering: Norbert Meyer
This instrumental is dedicated to my former band "Make Up" where I played the lead guitar in the 1980ies. The song is strongly modified and I assume, my former band mates wouldn't recognize it anymore.
This is the second part of the Mysteries journey initiated with the song „https://soundcloud.com/nobsmeyer/mysteries“. It is not a necessity to listen this one first, but you will definitely miss the first part, where Special Cecilia is opening the door for this journey. This second part goes: After mankind had continued with exhausting the whole planet, the last survivors managed to start the spaceship, which had been built for the mission to Saturn. To get there, they must find the entry to the wormhole and get through an asteroid field. The first part of the travel is dangerous and nearly too fast for the individuals. After they have passed the asteroid belt, the boundaries of space and time disappear ...
This is a further track based on an a capella from Special Cecilia, which I immediately liked, when I first heard it. The lovely message and the statements fitting to today's realities and phantasies inspired me to this ... how should I call it ... Symphony? Opera? Please listen and decide yourself, I promise you will not be bored :-) Vocals: @specialececilia Composition: @specialececilia @nobsmeyer Guitar, Bass, Keyboards & Production: @nobsmeyer
Here is a further collaboration with Special Cecilia. It started this time that I tried to combine her voice with a clean guitar with much echo, which already sounded excellent and gave the whole thing already a special direction to the powerful refrain, which came with the drums. And a song needs strong and well sounding drums, it brings the groove and the feel. The multidimensional refrain was originally planned only to consist of voice, drums bass and many many synths, but then by coincidence I found the nice chords on the eclectic guitar and the very challenging riff at the refrain of the end, where I had to train the fingers until it became as desired. Overall this song wouldn‘t exist without Cecilia’s initial ideas for vocals, which were enabling all the further inspiration for all the music you are hearing here. I hope that you will embarque to the journey and enjoy it the same way as I do when I hear it. I have tried to get the text amplified so that you get really an impression that „life is so multidimensional“. Vocals: @specialececilia Composition: @specialececilia @nobsmeyer Guitar, Bass, Keyboards & Production: Norbert Meyer We wish you much fun on the trip and if you like it, we appreciate your likes comments and reposts.
I have found this wonderful A Capella track from Special Cecilia which inspired me to this Rock Track. Vocals: @specialececilia Composition: @specialececilia Guitar, Bass, Keyboards & Production: Norbert Meyer I hope you will enjoy this collaboration!
For this song I have rediscovered my 1980s Fender Stratocaster Elite guitar, which has provided the nice crunchy and a bit aggressive single coil sound. As this guitar has active pick ups it produces a lot of sustain, so that as well the solos were really flowing easily.
The same way a sun cannot freeze I cannot live without music :-) Hope you all enjoy the track ;-)
