PRED003 Track B - Tondach Edelmatte - Untiteld Summer
Released back in 1999..... personal strikes again, with m. hausmeister and c. reichel, 2/3 of vienna based smooch productions, in deep, deep concentration. the a-side is not the typical 4 to the floor house type of shit; it´s more a superb arranged offbeat, surrounded by warm and moody plains in which loose piano-keys make sure to give your body a special treatment! hey, did i say detroit? no, not really, maybe a touch of it ....... and the b-side? come on, turn arround to get you´re private late summernight vibe with some lovely live guitar strings played by mr. reichel himself...

PRED001 Track B - Continental (Markus Worgull & Michael Scheibenreiter) - Stopover
Released early 1999..... Yes, in nine-nine Groove Attack is looking forward to bring up even more goodies to you that you are expecting, and with Personal rec, we are proud to present you a very fine new house imprint coming out of germany. Personals first release comes with two different tracks by a collaboration project between deep house connacsieur M. Worgull and Duesseldorfs very own M. Scheibenreiter (of Phoneheads fame), heard by the name of Continental. On side a. you got a warm and moody house track, which builts up slowly from some heavy traffic noises to a smooth live played vibraphon, whereas the b. side is more on the raw and uncut minimal dub house tip. So listen carefully and watch out for more very personal releases in the near future!!!!

PRED015 Track B - Eddy Ramich - Booba Mara (JSBL REMIX)
Eddy Ramich from well known production collective Eddy Meets Yannah (Compst Rec.) out of croatian capital Zagreb brings up the next freshness to finest personal rec. Imprint. Something in between the styles, could be Dubstep or Poshstep….but we do not care. It is a nice and deep journey into electronical landscapes with fat beats underneath. Of course Mr. Ramich’s partner in crime Yannah Valdevit add here special programming to this stunning track! On the flipside we have a real re-work of “Booba Ma Rah” by krautrockisch viennese Band JSBL (Jacob’s Salty & Bamboozling Ladder)! Behind that massive project there are nobody else then the 4 freeform rockers Dorian Concept, The Clonious, Cid Rim & Willi Rosner. We can only say: They did their own very typical masterpiece…..

PRED013 Track B - JR & PH7 feat. Brokn Englsh - Try
With their last album The Standard the producers JR & PH7 did exactly that: they applied a new one. The lp found international approval and was sold likewise in the States, Europe and Japan. Now 2 new tracks of the two are released, which are just as promising. As before they are working together with 2 US-underground stars: St Joe Louis and Brokn.Englsh gave their distinctive voices to the singles “New High” and “Try”. Follow the beat and let us know what you think!

PRED000 Track B 02 - Michael H. - At Last
Released back in 2001..... Preddy, our man in Vienna, comes up with another jerking gem for all those who dig smart-ass between-the-seats-soul with that certain twist. The man himself seems to be so impressed by Michael H.`s (also Tondach Edelmatte and Smooch Production Vienna) skills that he decided only the labelcode PredOOO (spell like in: OOOh hell, who does he thinks he is, fuckin Kenny Dope ?) would do the job. Well: He`s damn right. Take „Tunrnaround Girl“, a classy garage affair featuring the mighty voice of Polands Soul Brother Number One Marcin D., who used to be background singer with „tighter-than-Aretha“ Teresa Wybrwoska ( remember the charttopping joint „Ptaszyn“ in 1977?) long before his solo-career kicked off. Imagine Michael and Marcin wouldn’t have met while doin‘ some serious stockfishing near Krakau ! You wouldn`t have to manage all the damage this one‘s certainly doin` to any floor. Thank God you have to! After you`ve checked the unreleased 97 instant classic „Lucy“, a spheric kind of New Jersey-thang you`ll surely dig (if not, ask Tony Humphries) , turnover for the roof-on-fire-setting vocal-smash „Townsell“ and the laidback after-hour-blunt „At last“. You`ll know: it`s all good. Vienna’s in the house again : remember that, kid. Notes Cornelius Tittel

PRED017 Track A - Borka - Stringy Thingy
Stringy Thingy is a single by rx:tx’s current head tastemaker Borka from Ljubljana, Slovenia, who has been deejaying, producing, editing and promoting his ass o for the last ten years or so. His beats are mostly simple sample based compositions with some synth additives, glued together out of bits and pieces taken from under whichever rock they were hiding. On the B side we have a remix by Croatia's finest Josip Klobučar. He has released an excellent mini album called Fallback Functions in 2011. Borka’s Stringy Thingy is coming out on 31st January 2012 in worldwide digital distribution. In cooperation with Personal Records a 7 inch vinyl edition distributed by Groove Attack will follow in weeks after that. Stringy Thingy is taken of the forthcoming EP, scheduled to come out in early spring 2012

PRED014 Track B - 1000 Names - How To Groove
1000names might just be one of the best-kept secrets in music. Despite being at the forefront of the beats/wonky scene this side of the Atlantic that’s blown up so big in the last year, they’ve somehow stayed just under the radar. And it’s not like they’ve been quiet: since their debut on the seminal Beatnicks Vol. 1 alongside Jackhigh and Rustie – perhaps the record which defined the scene in its current incarnation – they’ve put out two EPs, two split singles and an album and been featured on Alex Nut’s Rinse compilation, but somehow it took until now for them to start to get the recognition those who know them have long expected. First up, they’ve had time to get their sound right. Forming in 2005 as the union of a drummer and a painter with a shared love of samples they pooled their resources to get an Akai MPC and, guided by the sounds of Dabrye, Madlib/Quasimoto and J Dilla, pretty soon they knew where they were headed. Strangely, when you see them now it seems surprising they only teamed up four years ago – they look alike, they walk alike, they finish each other’s sentences – in fact, they’re more like a pair of brothers or non-identical twins. Obviously this was one of those partnerships that was just going to happen, eventually, no matter what. Back in those days the European beats scene was tiny. Unknown to the media, ignored by blogs, this was a one-to-one network that owed its whole existence and sense of being to the internet. In this way it may be the first scene that was truly born of the internet age and truly international. Maybe it’s their involvement with mainly European labels that’s kept them out of the glare of the British media, more focused on the Rustie/Hud Mo axis in Glasgow and on the growth of dubstep. However, that’s all set to change, with an upcoming release on Bristol’s Black Acre on 10” green vinyl, followed by an EP on Eklektik and three EPs on the new Svetlana Industries label. The original 1000names sound was hip hop based; samples and loops underpinned by possibly the wonkiest beats in the scene. Take classic tracks Melonball Bounce or Beauty Surrounds You –one a mash-up of a vintage Sprite advert, the other of the theme from Born Free. In both cases the tracks start with a conventional loop that’s thrown totally off when a huge beat comes in that seems to be hooked to another groove entirely and yet totally fits. This is known to cause two physiological effects in the listener – one a broad smile of pleasure and surprise, the other a potentially painful whiplash in the neck caused by interrupted headnod. This was a direction that they refined and distilled over several years to reach culmination on 2009’s Toys Room Combat longplayer on Eklektik, but since last year something else has come into the mix: they’ve come under the influence of the synthesiser. Or, more specifically, the sound of early 80s electrodisco. They’ve always had a sci-fi element to their sound and to their graphics, but now it seems like it’s out of control. Yep, there’s no doubt – it’s 2010, and, from a concrete Communist tower block somewhere in Sofia, 1000names are taking off.
